Instructions

  1. 1

Place the bacon strips in a cold skillet (preferably non-stick) over medium heat. Cook for 5-7 minutes, flipping occasionally, until crispy and browned to your liking. Remove bacon from skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.

  2. 2

While bacon cooks, toast the bread in a toaster to your desired crispness. Once toasted, spread butter on the toast, if desired.

  3. 3

Carefully pour out most of the bacon grease from the skillet, leaving about 1/2 tablespoon. If there isn't enough bacon grease, add 1/2 tablespoon of butter or cooking oil to the skillet and heat over medium-low heat.

  4. 4

Crack the egg directly into the hot skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes for a runny yolk (sunny-side up), or flip and cook for an additional 30 seconds to 1 minute for an over-easy egg. Season with salt and pepper.

  5. 5

Carefully slide the fried egg onto one of the buttered toast slices. Place the crispy bacon strips alongside. Serve immediately.
