Pan-Seared Lemon Herb Chicken with Creamy Orzo

Ingredients

  • •2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • •1 tablespoon olive oil
  • •2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • •3 garlic cloves, minced
  • •4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • •2 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • •1 lemon, halved
  • •1 cup chicken broth
  • •1/2 cup heavy cream
  • •1 cup orzo pasta, cooked according to package directions
  • •1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • •Salt to taste
  • •Black pepper to taste
  • •Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1

Pat chicken breasts dry with paper towels, then season generously on both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

Heat olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place chicken breasts in the skillet. Sear for 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

  3. 3

In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add unsalted butter. Once melted, add minced garlic, fresh thyme sprigs, and fresh rosemary sprigs. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

  4. 4

Deglaze the skillet by pouring in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon. Squeeze in the juice from half of the lemon. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

  5. 5

Stir in the heavy cream and bring the sauce back to a gentle simmer. Remove the herb sprigs from the sauce. Add the cooked orzo pasta to the sauce, tossing gently to ensure every grain is coated.

  6. 6

Slice the cooked chicken breasts into thick slices or serve whole. Arrange the chicken over the creamy orzo pasta in the skillet or on individual plates. Sprinkle generously with grated Parmesan cheese.

  7. 7

Serve immediately, optionally garnished with fresh chopped parsley and a lemon wedge for an extra squeeze of brightness.
